These Marimekko Oiva Stoneware Dinner Plates are truly beautiful. The subtle design is very handsome and would go with any decor. Ever so slightly creamy in color, the glazed surface is shiny and pristine. The weight of these dishes speaks to the fine quality of the porcelain. They have a substantial feel, while also appearing very elegant. The mid century modern vibe, for which Marimekko is known, is quite evident in these dishes. I particularly appreciate the gently upturned rim which prevents sauces from spilling over the side. Well designed and beautifully crafted. Highly recommended.

A Pure Plate For Elegant Dining!
This MARIMEKKO Oiva Dinner Plate may look pretty simple and basic, and yes, it is. But that is what makes this plate so beautiful as well. If for instance, you are serving a filet mignon steak to a Loved One on Valentine’s Day, you will want to put it on a plate where your food is the Star. Decorated plates have their purpose, but all those fancy designs also detract from the meal that is served on them.Not only is this plate ideal for showcasing special meals, but it is sturdy and heavy, just like cafeteria plates are. I have no worries about this plate’s durability. It says in the product description that the plate weighs 0.73 kilograms. I was curious so I looked it up, and that amount is equal to 1.609 pounds. That means this plate weighs OVER a pound and a half!The only small wish I have for this dinner plate would be, that the sticker on the bottom be easier to remove. It is very very hard to get it off. In addition, the word “Oiva” means “splendid” in Finnish. In my opinion, this Oiva plate is definitely Splendid!

Pricey but worth the price. Classic dinner plate.
This is the second Marimekko product I have tried off Amazon, and so far what has held true is that they are pricey but appear to be much more durable and quality in exchange. The plate itself is a very simple white dinner plate in a classic way. It is a little larger in diameter than my normal dinner plates but not so much as to be overwhelming; it does make it a little harder to slot it into my dish drying rack, as it has a tendency to catch the upper wrack. But that means more white space when plating for looks (or more space to pile on food when pigging out). I have run it now a few times through the microwave and dishwasher without any indications of loss of glaze or chips. What is also nice is that when running it in the microwave, it does a pretty good job of dissipating heat from areas that no food is sitting, meaning that it is easy to pick up quickly after a quick zap in the microwave. Overall a great classy but simple dish.

Jackpot for a Marimekko Fan
I happen to already have a large collection of Marimekko dinnerware, so I’m familiar with the standards the company abides by. I can say 100% that this plain, white plate adheres to it! The funny thing is that while this stacks easily and beautifully with our existing Marimekko dinner plates, this one is different from the others that have designs on them, and it has therefore become the most coveted plate for dinner amongst the kids (even though it’s just a completely white plate!) It’s sturdy, solid, and washes just fine in the dishwasher. Love this brand and will keep placing and replacing my dinner table’s pieces from them!

Made in Thailand, not Finland! Good plate but expensive for what it is.
This is a nice and stylish plate but it’s rather expensive for what you’re getting, especially given that it’s not Made in Finland as advertised.The plate looks great, and is a pleasure to use when plating things artfully, and I love eating from it — it’s become one of my favorites at home. We almost exclusively use Corelle dinnerware at home because of how durable and stylish they are, plus they’re Made in USA so that’s a plus, but this plate has made it into the rotation at home as I love the way it’s designed and love the lip around plate.Overall, it’s an expensive piece of dinnerware — you can sometimes get a 4 person set of Corelle dinnerware for this price when on sale, but, the quality of this plate is undeniable — it’s just rather expensive for what it is.

This fabulous 10-inch dinner plate from Marimekko did not disappoint! Everything about it exceeded my expectations.- Outstanding craftsmanship and heavy duty durable porcelain construction.- Sits firmly on a flat surface. The off white color will blend in with any tableware decor.- The 10-inch size is versatile for use as both a dinnerware and serveware plate.- The rounded lipped edges of the plate are perfect … perfect! … for use with a meal that includes sauces, broths, or gravies as shown in photo.Cost: Granted, this dinnerplate is on the more expensive side. But given it’s extremely well made durable construction and design, and its versatile use, I think the cost is warranted.I look forward to adding more Marimekko pieces to my dinnerware and serveware collection. I highly recommend this lovely and durable product.
