ACCURATE WEATHER DATA WITHOUT THE PRIVACY WORRIES
A WEATHER STATION THAT JUST WORKSI’ve been wanting a simple weather station for the house for a while now, one that gives me the basic, important information without a lot of fuss. It’s surprising how many of them want you to download an app and create an account just to see the temparature. This EnvyBox station is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a straightforward device that prioritizes function over needless complexity.🟦 First impressions are quite good. The 8.5″ screen is large, clear, and easy to read from across the room. The unit itself feels well-put-together and doesn’t have that cheap, flimsy plastic feel that a lot of electronics in this price range suffer from. It can be powered by batteries or the included AC adapter, which is a nice touch for placement flexibility.✨ Getting this thing up and running was incredibly easy. i literally just plugged it in, followed a few simple steps to connect it to my WiFi, and it started pulling down accurate local weather data. There was no app to download, no account to create, and no privacy policy to pretend to read. It just works. So far, the temperature, humidity, and forecast data have been spot-on compared to my local weather service. It also syncs the calendar, which is a useful little bonus.🔸 The biggest selling point for me is the lack of a required app. In a world where every single device wants to harvest your data, a product that actively promotes being “Privacy-Focused & App-Free” is a HUGE win in my book. Internet Weather
This weather station is, indeed, very easy to glance at from afar. You can kick it back on its built-in kickstand, or hang it on the wall with the included heavy-duty push pins. Hang it up high, and you’ll be able to see it from anywhere in the room. With that said, at the price at the time of purchase, I was hoping this weather station would function more as a local sensor than just a display for some unknown weather source online. Once you connect it to your WiFi, it pulls weather information from “somewhere on the internet” based on your IP address location, or you can manually set a city/state. You cannot select which weather station it uses, so if you have hyper-local weather experiences in your area, this might not be super helpful. Overall it does make a nice HUD for glanceable weather, but I just don’t think the value is there. At a tenth the value, I think this would be a fine deal.

Good, Not Great
This is quite a nice weather station, and with only a few improvements, could be great. It has a bright, easy to read display, and push-button dimming levels that make it simple and easy to tone down the brightness. The display presents good information clearly, with time and date, indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, and a picture representation of the weather forecast. That being said, it would be nice if it came with an outdoor sensor in order to get the outside temperature at my house instead of based on the forecast for my area. Secondly, and this is a minor point, when scanning the QR code to set up the device, by default the page that was presented in my browser was in Chinese. On a whim, I pressed a toggle on the screen where i thought a language switch would be and happened to get to switch to English, but had I not thought to to that I don’t know I would have been able to customize any of the settings. It works well and updates frequently, so it does the job, but it could be a lot more.

The intelligent dimming on battery power and the quick light-up upon touch are practical touches that show attention to user experience. Furthermore, the fact that it receives firmware updates over WiFi, much like a smartphone, ensures it remains current with the latest features without any effort on my part. This truly feels like a modern, well-engineered device that seamlessly integrates into my daily routine.
