These are definitely worth looking into
These are a lifesaver with PG&E rates spiraling completely out of control. I put a bunch of my accent lights on them and it’s so nice to be able to turn them on and off with my phone and micromanage them to the point that I actually am probably saving on my hyper-inflated electricity bill – did I mention hyper-inflated? On top of that, these Tapo products are all really nicely built and not all cheap and plasticy. I hate cheap and plasticy. With a passion. These aren’t that. They’re very solid, high-end luxuriously finished plastic and relatively heavy even – extremely nice and for the price I honestly cannot fault them in any way. I’m going to buy more under the circumstances this Tapo ecosystem is the best I’ve seen yet at any price. It sets up easy and just works.

Check size and brand
The smart plug works well, and was easy to install in the Tapo app and on Apple Home. I like that the Tapo app lets me control my lights from outside my home without needing a separate hub.The plug is wide, so two plugs cannot be installed in a two-gang outlet configuration (in my case a box with a typical 110V pair of outlets beside a single 220V outlet in the same box – see photo).Note that these are very similar to the Kasa brand, which I thought I was buying. Kasa and Tapo are both TP-Link brands, and the products and packaging are almost identical. This Tapo product will not connect to the Kasa app, so make sure you read the product description carefully.TP-Link customer support (Jay, thank you!) helped me transfer all of my previous Kasa products to the Tapo app, so now my switches and plugs all work together.

I now have smart bulbs or plug ins for all my lights except the overheads….I also have several brands. I purchased a TP link indoor security/baby monitor camera a few months ago to be able to keep an eye on my bedridden spouse. I liked it so much I immediately bought a second for the hearth room. Those were so easy to set up that when I wanted another smart plug in I looked for the TP brand again. YAY. I already had the app on my phone so set up took maybe 2 minutes – for it to find the device….THEN a minute to set it up with Alexa….again so easy because I had the TP app on my phone.I gifted my neighbor with one of my three. She has said “I should maybe get things like that”….so I helped her plug in her first smart plug, helped her get the app on her phone and then get her Echo to find it. She was really proud of her first SMART light. She will be buying more.You can’t go wrong with this brand. They have amazing prices on really quality products that seem to work seamlessly.I just ordered one of their outdoor SOLAR security cameras that I need to install. The solar panel goes up near the roof line and I have a perfect spot on the facia to attach the light.I really like that I can control my TP Link devices with their app, with my alexa app, or with my voice. I really really love this brand.

Setting these up has lots of opportunity to enroll in something you likely want no part of. The QR codes on the device and included in the package all seem to point you to something that asks for a subscription and/or credit card number before you can actually activate the switch. The only way I got the app without this was to first log into the web site at tapo.com/support and then using the QR code there to download the APP which only activates and controls the switches. No subscriptions or credit card requests.If you go to the play store and search for tapo then if you are careful, you should be able to install the app. The ICON looks a bit like a dog house.Once activated, the switches seem well behaved. Just using the app, they can be turned on and off as long as your phone is on the same network as the switch and schedules can be set. The schedules still work with the phone out of range.

Perfect solution to an irritating problem
Perfect solution for an irritating problem. My Smartthings hub, which is Matter-compatible, recognized the plug immediately before I even installed the TP-Link Tapo app. I was having a problem whenever there was a power or internet outage, the Smarrthings hub wouldn’t come back online after it was restored until I came home and reset the hub. Now I can do this remotely via TCP/IP instead of having to wait til I got home to reset the hub. You DO NOT have to be on your home network to control the plug! Better than expectations.

Excellent mini plugs
Love these Tapo mini smart plugs. Have used other Tapo plugs and still do but because of the size and Matter compatibility, these are the best for me. Crazy easy to set these up using Matter. Integrated into Google home quickly. I remember the first Kasa/Tapo single smart plugs that were great to use but massive. Just started using these new mini ones and might replace the older very large style with these.

These are great. I managed to get all three of these added to my network and integrated with my Google mini device so I can control all three with simple voice commands. Great product.

Es muy practico tener contactos inteligentes. Normalmente enciendo los que requiero y apago los que no se necesitan por el momento, esto para ahorrar energía eléctrica. Los uso también para prender y apagar lamparas cuando no estoy en mi casa para que parezca que hay alguien en casa. No he explorado si tienen temporizadores, pero hay funciones que permiten administrarlos con un reloj, solo que aun no he llegado a ese punto, solo el modo manual. Faciles de configurar y practicos. Recomendados para comenzar a utilizar “Smart Things”.

There are plenty of other brands out there, but I selected Tp-Link H105 because it’s the most compact version, as in it doesn’t block the other plug hole, and it comes with a great App that is full of features.The WiFi in this plug is solid, so it’s great for those times when you need to reset a remote camera, or a light, fan, TV… whatever…The scheduler option is great, specially the Dusk and Dawn function, it’s great for lights you want to auto come on at night and off during the day.but the most important thing of it all, the H105 is reliable, it always works even when your WiFi is unreliable.The Kasa App is easy to use and intuitive, unlike other IoT Apps.I’ve had these for several years, then I recently decided to add even more of these plugs because they work so well.
